Phyllostachys edulis (Carrière) J. Houz.It is a monoaxial evergreen tree-like bamboo plant of Gramineae and Gangzhu. Its pole height can reach more than 20 meters, its auricles are not obvious, and its ligule is raised. The leaves are small and thin, lanceolate, prickly, leafless, spikelet has only one floret, shoots in April and blooms in May-August. China is distributed from the Qinling Mountains and the Hanshui River Basin to the south of the Yangtze River Basin and Taiwan Province, and there are also many cultivated in the Yellow River Basin.
Phyllostachys pubescens likes a warm and humid climate, and the annual average temperature is about 18 degrees Celsius. It requires high soil moisture, which cannot be dried but cannot accumulate water. Generally, it grows well on fertile red soil, yellow soil and other plots. The root system of young bamboo is thin and can not resist strong wind. It is suitable for sunny, sheltered from wind, low water level and good drainage in foothills, mountainsides and valleys. The depth of the soil layer is more than 50cm, and the acid sandy soil or sandy loam soil with pH value less than 7 is the best.
China is rich in bamboo resources, there are 39 genera and 837 species of bamboo, accounting for 51% of the world's 1642 species of bamboo. The results of the Ninth National Forest Resources Inventory show that my country's bamboo forest covers an area of 6.412 million hectares, accounting for 0.7 per cent of the country's total land area, 1.98 per cent of the forest area and 2.94 per cent of the forest area. Compared with the eighth forest resources inventory, the area of bamboo forests nationwide increased by 405300 hectares. The latest data show that in 2021, China's bamboo forest area is 7.5627 million hectares, accounting for 3.31 of the forest area.
